Title:
The First Antiparticle
Description:
photo from Physical Review 43, 1034 (1933)

This photograph (hi-res version) provided evidence for the existence of antimatter. The curved track was made by a positron –the antiparticle of the electron--moving in a magnetic field. Note the change in curvature where the particle passed through a lead plate (seen edgewise in center). To learn more about interpreting this photo, see The First Antiparticle from Physical Review Focus. To find out more about antimatter, visit Antimatter: Mirror of the Universe, from CERN.
